When a phone doctor consultation makes sense
Phone consults suit many follow-ups, medication queries and symptom discussions where a visual exam is not essential. They are quick to join and work well if you are travelling within Ireland or prefer privacy without camera.
Your GP will still take a structured history and decide whether phone care is enough, or whether video or in-person assessment is safer.
What to expect on the call
Be somewhere you can speak openly. Have medicines and symptom timelines to hand. The doctor may advise self-care, prescribe when appropriate, issue a sick cert when appropriate, or recommend urgent face-to-face care.

- Many mild–moderate symptom reviews without need for visual exam
